Chanel’s professional experience as a User Experience Designer began in 2015. Her approach to design is always to start with lots of research. Her strengths as a UX Designer are rooted in her B.A. in Communications (concentration in Journalism), and include interviewing stakeholders, investigating different perspectives, interrogating assumptions, working within limited systems, & being a voice & advocate for more inclusive solutions.

Since 2015, Chanel has designed for several Saas (software as a service) products, including:

  • Milieu: a business-to-business social exchange and directory to help associations and organizations leverage community knowledge and resources;

  • Starfish: a student success and outreach platform for higher ed institutions to track student progress and engage in outreach with their students;

  • PSA technology: professional services automation software for project management, financial projections and reporting, and resource scheduling.

For example, her consulting work has included:

  • Implementing and exploring tools like Signal, Slack and Mighty Networks to improve collaboration in movement building work;

  • Implementing workflows in Monday.com to improve nonprofit financial management systems and practices;

  • Establishing regular feedback loops and opportunities for internal stakeholders to share ideas on how to improve practices at nonprofit through satisfaction surveys, staff exit interviews, and group focus sessions for program and budget fiscal year planning;

  • Gathering community feedback on state legislative issues in small group sessions and coalition spaces.
